Home Moving Company Advises Which Materials are Non-Allowable for Residential Moves
At Philpot Relocation Systems, we pride ourselves on being a home moving company that serves its customers in every way possible. Among these services is our desire to make the moving process as easy as possible, both for you, your family, and for our teams of professional movers. For this reason, we have compiled a list of the types of materials that our home moving company cannot transport so that you can dispose of them or leave them behind before your move.
Materials are typically non-allowable for safety or practicality reasons, in that they present serious hazards or inconveniences to you or our team of movers. The items included on this list are not preferences unique to Philpot Relocation Systems, but materials that are non-allowable as industry standards for safety; you will be hard-pressed to find a home moving company of any repute willing to move these items.
The first category of non-allowables is items that are considered to be generally hazardous. These include anything that might be corrosive, flammable, or explosive. Acids, aerosols, fire extinguishers, ammunition, loaded firearms, propane tanks, poisons, pesticides, batteries, paints, pool chemicals, and other similar items are all non-allowable. There are also some items on the list of hazardous non-allowables that might not immediately occur to homeowners, such as nail polish and nail polish remover, cleaning solvents, and fertilizer, which can actually pose a significant flammability hazard.
The second category of non-allowable items is goods that are perishable. These include any variety of food products, produce, or even household plants that could wilt inside our transportation vehicles. Often, if your move will be picked up or delivered in less than 24 hours, certain exceptions can be made if the perishables are properly packed and sealed, but for general purposes it is best to consider leaving them behind or transporting them yourself.
Finally, the third group of non-allowables is items that are sensitive or personal. Car titles, jewelry, keys, checkbooks, cell phones, school and financial records, laptops, and other similar items should be transported by you or kept with you during the moving process. Although our movers at Philpot are some of the best in the industry, the transportation of such important items can become a tremendous liability for any home moving company if they are lost or damaged.
We hope that this list proves informative and helps make your moving day just a little easier. For more information about how our home moving company can help you, contact Philpot Relocation Systems today. We proudly serve Atlanta, Alpharetta, Marietta, Sandy Springs, and surrounding communities.
